PLECK lesson 25 · suggested week 5, day 5

Week 5:practical learning check

Objective. Week 5:practical learning check:apply the stated method to a concrete case, produce the requested evidence, and justify safe, private, and accessible choices.

About 25–50 minutes. The due date is chosen by a parent.

Split across sittings as needed;no timer or required date.Adult approval remains required even for independent work.

Materials: paper, pencil, optional calculator, drawn models.

This is an untimed learning check, not a scheduled due date or professional test. Use fictional records and paper models. Read every task, show your reasoning, and label units or money. A parent may provide access supports, but note any decision-making hints. Do not perform a household hazard to answer a question. Reviewed original probes may recur intentionally to check independent retrieval. Safety and boundaries: Adult directly supervises all food work and manages heat/sharp tools. Check all ingredients and established allergy plans. No raw-meat handling, tolerance tests, tasting uncertain food, or deliberate unsafe holding. Family-only evidence;use fictional details,no faces or private records. No purchases are required.

Worked example

Unscored model for discussion;use the assignment case for your own work.

Unscored checking routine:identify the constraint, make a labeled response, and verify that it meets the question. A request for help with an unsafe or uncertain step is appropriate; never hide a safety doubt.

Week 5:practical learning check — evidence and reflection

  1. 1. Create a thermometer-target card for poultry, ground beef, intact pork roast, and leftovers.
  2. 2. Compare refrigerator, cold-water, and microwave thawing in a three-row planning table.
  3. 3. Design a leftover label with fictional food, day, and planned use within 3–4 days.
  4. 4. Make a fictional ingredient card containing wheat, milk, and sesame. Then mark the declared allergens.
  5. 5. Give targets for ground poultry, ground beef, and intact pork roast including rest.
  6. 6. Explain why raw poultry should not be washed and name a safe alternative control.

Acceptance checks

An adult supervises. This stays in the family. Spending is not required.

For any optional food, adult verifies all ingredients and established allergy needs;avoid cross-contact,no tolerance tests, and use paper food if uncertain. For clothing/cleaning,adult checks sensitivities and labels;no chemical mixing.

Adult directly supervises all food work and manages heat/sharp tools. Check all ingredients and established allergy plans. No raw-meat handling, tolerance tests, tasting uncertain food, or deliberate unsafe holding.

Complete the entire task using paper diagrams, fictional data,empty/inactive tools, and parent-observed explanation.

  • No unsupervised heat,sharp tools,cleaners,or appliances.
  • No raw-meat handling,unsafe food tasting,chemical mixing,flame/smoke experiments,or electrical repair.
  • No real childcare/medical/intimate care,financial transactions,credentials,private records,or public posting.

If this is still shaky. Use this lesson’s worked model to make a three-box process card.Label the goal, one safety/constraint check, and the evidence you would show.Explain it to a parent before trying the main task again.

Optional extra. Change one fictional constraint in this lesson, such as available time, access, ingredient restriction,or pretend cost.Revise one artifact and show what must change and what safety/privacy rule stays fixed.
