PLECK lesson 88 · suggested week 18, day 3

Audit a meal plan using evidence

Objective. Audit a meal plan using evidence:apply the stated method to a concrete case, produce the requested evidence, and justify safe, private, and accessible choices.

About 25–50 minutes. The due date is chosen by a parent.

Split across sittings as needed;no timer or required date.Adult approval remains required even for independent work.

Materials: paper, pencil, optional calculator.

An audit checks whether documents agree. Quantities in the menu must match the list; costs must match quantities; the timeline must allow safe preparation and storage. Check the same criteria for a modest plan and an elaborate one. A reviewer may flag an uncertainty rather than guess. The audit uses a fictional packet and never requests family receipts or income. Safety and boundaries: No purchase, event invitation, real guest, or personal receipt is required. Adult reviews allergens and manages heat/sharp tools; keep food safely cold/hot if any optional food is used. Family-only evidence;use fictional details,no faces or private records. No purchases are required.

Worked example

Unscored model for discussion;use the assignment case for your own work.

If a plan says four wraps but the list has two tortillas, the mismatch is visible before any purchase or preparation.

Audit a meal plan using evidence — evidence and reflection

  1. 1. Create a mismatch case with four diners, two tortillas, and insufficient cold storage. List the problems.
  2. 2. Repair the quantity and storage plan without spending real money.
  3. 3. Check an invented cost table for totals and per-person amount.
  4. 4. Write a reviewer note separating required safety fixes from optional style suggestions.
  5. 5. Spiral review — Write a no-heat/paper alternative when an oven task lacks an adult. Spiral review.

Acceptance checks

An adult supervises. This stays in the family. Spending is a simulation, not real money.

For any optional food, adult verifies all ingredients and established allergy needs;avoid cross-contact,no tolerance tests, and use paper food if uncertain. For clothing/cleaning,adult checks sensitivities and labels;no chemical mixing.

No purchase, event invitation, real guest, or personal receipt is required. Adult reviews allergens and manages heat/sharp tools; keep food safely cold/hot if any optional food is used.

Complete the entire task using paper diagrams, fictional data,empty/inactive tools, and parent-observed explanation.

  • No unsupervised heat,sharp tools,cleaners,or appliances.
  • No raw-meat handling,unsafe food tasting,chemical mixing,flame/smoke experiments,or electrical repair.
  • No real childcare/medical/intimate care,financial transactions,credentials,private records,or public posting.

If this is still shaky. Use this lesson’s worked model to make a three-box process card.Label the goal, one safety/constraint check, and the evidence you would show.Explain it to a parent before trying the main task again.

Optional extra. Change one fictional constraint in this lesson, such as available time, access, ingredient restriction,or pretend cost.Revise one artifact and show what must change and what safety/privacy rule stays fixed.
