PLECK lesson 113 · suggested week 23, day 3

Fold, store, and maintain clothing

Objective. Fold, store, and maintain clothing:apply the stated method to a concrete case, produce the requested evidence, and justify safe, private, and accessible choices.

About 25–50 minutes. The due date is chosen by a parent.

Split across sittings as needed;no timer or required date.Adult approval remains required even for independent work.

Materials: paper, pencil, optional calculator.

Storage should keep clean items dry, accessible, and protected from unnecessary crushing or snagging. Fold or hang according to garment needs and available space. A small repair can extend useful life, but unsafe or unsuitable items may need adult/professional help. Use a clean scrap, empty towel, or paper garment instead of private clothing photos. Do not climb or move heavy storage furniture. Safety and boundaries: Adult directly supervises needles, scissors, pins, appliances, and any products; count sharps before/after. No chemical mixing, pod opening, irons, machines, or real garment repair is required. Keep small parts from children/pets. Family-only evidence;use fictional details,no faces or private records. No purchases are required.

Worked example

Unscored model for discussion;use the assignment case for your own work.

A folded paper sweater models flat storage while a paper shirt on a drawn hanger models accessible hanging.

Fold, store, and maintain clothing — evidence and reflection

  1. 1. Demonstrate two folds with a clean towel/scrap or paper rectangle.
  2. 2. Design a generic storage map with reachable frequent-use items and clear path.
  3. 3. Create a maintenance log for three fictional garments:inspect, care, repair decision.
  4. 4. Explain when repairing an item might be better than replacing it, and one limit.
  5. 5. Spiral review — A 40 item has 25%discount, then fictional 10%tax on discounted price. Find total. Spiral review.

Acceptance checks

An adult supervises. This stays in the family. Spending is not required.

For any optional food, adult verifies all ingredients and established allergy needs;avoid cross-contact,no tolerance tests, and use paper food if uncertain. For clothing/cleaning,adult checks sensitivities and labels;no chemical mixing.

Adult directly supervises needles, scissors, pins, appliances, and any products; count sharps before/after. No chemical mixing, pod opening, irons, machines, or real garment repair is required. Keep small parts from children/pets.

Complete the entire task using paper diagrams, fictional data,empty/inactive tools, and parent-observed explanation.

  • No unsupervised heat,sharp tools,cleaners,or appliances.
  • No raw-meat handling,unsafe food tasting,chemical mixing,flame/smoke experiments,or electrical repair.
  • No real childcare/medical/intimate care,financial transactions,credentials,private records,or public posting.

If this is still shaky. Use this lesson’s worked model to make a three-box process card.Label the goal, one safety/constraint check, and the evidence you would show.Explain it to a parent before trying the main task again.

Optional extra. Change one fictional constraint in this lesson, such as available time, access, ingredient restriction,or pretend cost.Revise one artifact and show what must change and what safety/privacy rule stays fixed.
