PLECK lesson 126 · suggested week 26, day 1

Kitchen and bathroom hygiene plans

Objective. Kitchen and bathroom hygiene plans:apply the stated method to a concrete case, produce the requested evidence, and justify safe, private, and accessible choices.

About 25–50 minutes. The due date is chosen by a parent.

Split across sittings as needed;no timer or required date.Adult approval remains required even for independent work.

Materials: paper, pencil, optional calculator.

High-touch and food-contact areas need appropriate cleaning, and different zones should not share contaminated cloths. Keep bathroom tools away from food areas. An adult handles cleaning products, raw-food contamination, and any sanitizing directions. Students only plan or perform an approved low-risk plain-water/dry task. Do not clean toilets, body fluids, mold, or drains for class. Safety and boundaries: Adult manages products and hazards. No mixing cleaners, bleach/ammonia/acids, no electrical repair, fire/smoke experiments, climbing, mold/body-fluid/broken-glass cleanup, or heavy lifting. Paper diagrams are sufficient. Family-only evidence;use fictional details,no faces or private records. No purchases are required.

Worked example

Unscored model for discussion;use the assignment case for your own work.

A paper toolkit uses separate labeled cloth cards for food and bathroom zones rather than one cloth everywhere.

Kitchen and bathroom hygiene plans — evidence and reflection

  1. 1. Draw two zone-specific tool kits and labels that do not rely only on color.
  2. 2. Create a kitchen reset sequence prioritizing food storage and adult raw-food cleanup.
  3. 3. Explain why using one bathroom cloth on a cutting board is unsafe.
  4. 4. Write a paper bathroom-care plan identifying three adult-only tasks.
  5. 5. Spiral review — A label says wash cold, dry flat, no bleach. What three actions follow? Spiral review.

Acceptance checks

An adult supervises. This stays in the family. Spending is not required.

For any optional food, adult verifies all ingredients and established allergy needs;avoid cross-contact,no tolerance tests, and use paper food if uncertain. For clothing/cleaning,adult checks sensitivities and labels;no chemical mixing.

Adult manages products and hazards. No mixing cleaners, bleach/ammonia/acids, no electrical repair, fire/smoke experiments, climbing, mold/body-fluid/broken-glass cleanup, or heavy lifting. Paper diagrams are sufficient.

Complete the entire task using paper diagrams, fictional data,empty/inactive tools, and parent-observed explanation.

  • No unsupervised heat,sharp tools,cleaners,or appliances.
  • No raw-meat handling,unsafe food tasting,chemical mixing,flame/smoke experiments,or electrical repair.
  • No real childcare/medical/intimate care,financial transactions,credentials,private records,or public posting.

If this is still shaky. Use this lesson’s worked model to make a three-box process card.Label the goal, one safety/constraint check, and the evidence you would show.Explain it to a parent before trying the main task again.

Optional extra. Change one fictional constraint in this lesson, such as available time, access, ingredient restriction,or pretend cost.Revise one artifact and show what must change and what safety/privacy rule stays fixed.
