PLECK lesson 129 · suggested week 26, day 4

Emergency planning without private contacts

Objective. Emergency planning without private contacts:apply the stated method to a concrete case, produce the requested evidence, and justify safe, private, and accessible choices.

About 25–50 minutes. The due date is chosen by a parent.

Split across sittings as needed;no timer or required date.Adult approval remains required even for independent work.

Materials: paper, pencil, optional calculator.

An emergency plan considers alerts, shelter/evacuation, communication, access needs, and supplies. Class documents use placeholders and a fictional household; real contacts, addresses, medical information, and security arrangements stay private with the family. Do not call emergency numbers for practice or stage hazards. A parent may separately review a real plan off the assignment page. Safety and boundaries: Adult manages products and hazards. No mixing cleaners, bleach/ammonia/acids, no electrical repair, fire/smoke experiments, climbing, mold/body-fluid/broken-glass cleanup, or heavy lifting. Paper diagrams are sufficient. Family-only evidence;use fictional details,no faces or private records. No purchases are required.

Worked example

Unscored model for discussion;use the assignment case for your own work.

A classroom plan uses“trusted adult A”and“meeting place B”rather than uploading phone numbers or a floor plan.

Emergency planning without private contacts — evidence and reflection

  1. 1. Create a fictional five-section emergency-plan template.
  2. 2. Add one mobility/language need and a respectful support plan.
  3. 3. Write a pretend emergency call script with placeholders. Do not dial.
  4. 4. Explain what belongs in family-private records rather than class evidence.
  5. 5. Spiral review — A pretend meal costs 2.75+3.25+4.50+1.50. Find total and change from 15. Spiral review.

Acceptance checks

An adult supervises. This stays in the family. Spending is not required.

For any optional food, adult verifies all ingredients and established allergy needs;avoid cross-contact,no tolerance tests, and use paper food if uncertain. For clothing/cleaning,adult checks sensitivities and labels;no chemical mixing.

Adult manages products and hazards. No mixing cleaners, bleach/ammonia/acids, no electrical repair, fire/smoke experiments, climbing, mold/body-fluid/broken-glass cleanup, or heavy lifting. Paper diagrams are sufficient.

Complete the entire task using paper diagrams, fictional data,empty/inactive tools, and parent-observed explanation.

  • No unsupervised heat,sharp tools,cleaners,or appliances.
  • No raw-meat handling,unsafe food tasting,chemical mixing,flame/smoke experiments,or electrical repair.
  • No real childcare/medical/intimate care,financial transactions,credentials,private records,or public posting.

If this is still shaky. Use this lesson’s worked model to make a three-box process card.Label the goal, one safety/constraint check, and the evidence you would show.Explain it to a parent before trying the main task again.

Optional extra. Change one fictional constraint in this lesson, such as available time, access, ingredient restriction,or pretend cost.Revise one artifact and show what must change and what safety/privacy rule stays fixed.
