Capstone checkpoint 7:communication and consent

Objective. Capstone checkpoint 7:communication and consent:apply the stated method to a concrete case, produce the requested evidence, and justify safe, private, and accessible choices.

About 25–50 minutes. The due date is chosen by a parent.

Split across sittings as needed;no timer or required date.Adult approval remains required even for independent work.

Materials: paper, pencil, optional calculator.

Fictional capstone case:four people share a 90-minute meal-and-home-reset event. One needs a seated workspace and one avoids milk; an adult must verify ingredients. The paper budget is$60:reserve$10 for savings, up to$20 for food, $8 for care supplies, $12 for transport, and the rest as buffer. Use paper tools/food by default; no purchases, real guests, or actual care are required. Write communications that make roles, requests, and limits explicit. The case is fictional:do not send invitations, contact a business, or involve a real care recipient. Include a respectful way for someone to decline food, photos, or a task. A handoff should confirm who remains responsible, especially when an adult leaves. Privacy review happens before evidence is submitted. Safety and boundaries: All capstone evidence can be paper/simulation. Adult approval/direct supervision for any optional food, heat, sharp-tool, cleaning, or sewing activity. No real care subjects, transactions, public posting, or private household information. Family-only evidence;use fictional details,no faces or private records. No purchases are required.

Worked example

Unscored model for discussion;use the assignment case for your own work.

A draft asks whether the seated role works for the participant and accepts a different preference without demanding medical information.

Capstone checkpoint 7:communication and consent — evidence and reflection

  1. 1. Draft a short fictional event briefing with roles, safety, and access choices. Do not send.
  2. 2. Write an active-listening exchange resolving one role disagreement.
  3. 3. Create a boundary statement if adult supervision becomes unavailable.
  4. 4. Review all proposed evidence and list three private details deliberately excluded.
  5. 5. Spiral review — Fixed cost 18, price 8 per simulated job, variable cost 2 per job. Find contribution and break-even jobs. Spiral review.

Acceptance checks

An adult supervises. This stays in the family. Spending is a simulation, not real money.

For any optional food, adult verifies all ingredients and established allergy needs;avoid cross-contact,no tolerance tests, and use paper food if uncertain. For clothing/cleaning,adult checks sensitivities and labels;no chemical mixing.

All capstone evidence can be paper/simulation. Adult approval/direct supervision for any optional food, heat, sharp-tool, cleaning, or sewing activity. No real care subjects, transactions, public posting, or private household information.

Complete the entire task using paper diagrams, fictional data,empty/inactive tools, and parent-observed explanation.

  • No unsupervised heat,sharp tools,cleaners,or appliances.
  • No raw-meat handling,unsafe food tasting,chemical mixing,flame/smoke experiments,or electrical repair.
  • No real childcare/medical/intimate care,financial transactions,credentials,private records,or public posting.

If this is still shaky. Use this lesson’s worked model to make a three-box process card.Label the goal, one safety/constraint check, and the evidence you would show.Explain it to a parent before trying the main task again.

Optional extra. Change one fictional constraint in this lesson, such as available time, access, ingredient restriction,or pretend cost.Revise one artifact and show what must change and what safety/privacy rule stays fixed.
