PLECK lesson 178 · suggested week 36, day 3

Capstone presentation and revision conference

Objective. Capstone presentation and revision conference:apply the stated method to a concrete case, produce the requested evidence, and justify safe, private, and accessible choices.

About 35–75 minutes. The due date is chosen by a parent.

Split across sittings as needed;no timer or required date.Adult approval remains required even for independent work.

Materials: paper, pencil, optional calculator.

Fictional capstone case:four people share a 90-minute meal-and-home-reset event. One needs a seated workspace and one avoids milk; an adult must verify ingredients. The paper budget is$60:reserve$10 for savings, up to$20 for food, $8 for care supplies, $12 for transport, and the rest as buffer. Use paper tools/food by default; no purchases, real guests, or actual care are required. Present the complete simulated event packet privately to a parent or as a written/audio outline. Explain not just what you chose, but why the alternatives fit or failed the constraints. No public upload, actual guest, or meal tasting is required. Invite one evidence-based question, then revise. This is a demonstration of beginner learning, not professional certification or automatic school credit. Safety and boundaries: All capstone evidence can be paper/simulation. Adult approval/direct supervision for any optional food, heat, sharp-tool, cleaning, or sewing activity. No real care subjects, transactions, public posting, or private household information. Family-only evidence;use fictional details,no faces or private records. No purchases are required.

Worked example

Unscored model for discussion;use the assignment case for your own work.

A presentation points to the menu, budget, timeline, care model, and safety plan, then explains a change made after the surprise constraint.

Capstone presentation and revision conference — evidence and reflection

  1. 1. Submit a portfolio index linking six major artifacts.
  2. 2. Give a five-minute-or-shorter explanation or equivalent written summary of three trade-offs.
  3. 3. Answer one parent question or a written self-challenge with evidence.
  4. 4. Revise one artifact and record before/after reasoning.
  5. 5. Spiral review — Compare fictional serviceA:$6 monthly andB:$2 first month then$9 monthly over 3 months. Spiral review.

Acceptance checks

An adult supervises. This stays in the family. Spending is a simulation, not real money.

For any optional food, adult verifies all ingredients and established allergy needs;avoid cross-contact,no tolerance tests, and use paper food if uncertain. For clothing/cleaning,adult checks sensitivities and labels;no chemical mixing.

All capstone evidence can be paper/simulation. Adult approval/direct supervision for any optional food, heat, sharp-tool, cleaning, or sewing activity. No real care subjects, transactions, public posting, or private household information.

Complete the entire task using paper diagrams, fictional data,empty/inactive tools, and parent-observed explanation.

  • No unsupervised heat,sharp tools,cleaners,or appliances.
  • No raw-meat handling,unsafe food tasting,chemical mixing,flame/smoke experiments,or electrical repair.
  • No real childcare/medical/intimate care,financial transactions,credentials,private records,or public posting.

If this is still shaky. Use this lesson’s worked model to make a three-box process card.Label the goal, one safety/constraint check, and the evidence you would show.Explain it to a parent before trying the main task again.

Optional extra. Change one fictional constraint in this lesson, such as available time, access, ingredient restriction,or pretend cost.Revise one artifact and show what must change and what safety/privacy rule stays fixed.
